"Sitting at my childhood dining table about an hour south of Amsterdam is where my love for creating art began. With a stack of white paper and a simple pencil, I tried to capture the interesting faces in my mom’s magazines or made line drawings of animals and plants. I was born and raised in the Netherlands but have lived in Portland for many years. I feel fortunate to live with my family in an area surrounded by such inspiring natural beauty. I hope viewers of my art feel a deep connection with nature through my work. I enjoy working with professional-grade paint and mixed media on canvas in a contemporary style, using layering techniques to create depth and spontaneous brush strokes to define shapes. My subjects often radiate joy and positive energy which I strive to communicate through my colorful paintings. While our world can be challenging and complicated, my art celebrates the simple joys."
