"Hannah Schrom is an emerging artist who finds inspiration in subjects that appear dark, misunderstood, and overlooked. For this series, she focused on female figures in artistically tied rope shibari. Schrom uses crisp lines to follow themes of simplicity in surrender. The striking red used to highlight the rope symbolizes the desire many of us have for things not widely welcomed in polite society. Yet each piece of this series borrows a common word related to religion, indicating how close our unspoken wishes bubble is at our surface.
