"Lisa Appelgren is a Swedish-American artist based in Tokyo. Much of her inspiration comes from her childhood, with her face being reminiscent of Japanese Manga- and American cartoon- characters fused with mature, realistic features. Lisa’s portraits are characterized by a combination of the cute and the creepy, also taking inspiration from the horror genre. Many of her artworks are a subtle commentary on the bittersweet feminine experience."
